London Fashion Week has taken over our schedules this weekend – we’ve been backstage at the shows taking notes and snapping pics to share with you! Bumble and bumble invited us backstage at the SS14 Whistles show. Read on for the full low down:
The inspiration for the hair was ’90’s Rave Chic’. Head stylist James Pecis explained how Kate Moss’ lived in, natural look was the aesthetic they were hoping to achieve.
To start, hair was prepped using Bumble and bumble’s Prep, before spritzing Thickening Hairspray into the roots and blow drying flat to head with a natural parting. In some cases, stylists braided small sections of the hair if it was naturally too thick to give a ‘lived in’ effect. Fingers separated strands as the Does It all Spray was used throughout and hair was gently blow dried.
A mist of Dry Spun Finish was added to give a textured ‘grity’ look to the hair. James explained how the aim was to look like as if the girl had been partying all night, without looking dirty.
Make-up was led by make-up artist Lynsey Alexander using Revlon cosmetics to achieve a fresh, summery take on the 90′s rave aesthetic. It was all about paired back beauty, with a girlish pop of colour on the cheeks and lips – using Cream Blush in Coral Reef, Pinched and Flushed – with juxtaposing boyish brows that were filled in using the Eyeshadow Quad in Addictive.
